The PC Engine, known as the TurboGrafx-16 in America, was a very popular system in Japan. Although the processor is technically only 8-bit (an enhanced version of the 6502 with added features, called the HuC6280), the graphics subsystems of the PC Engine were quite superior to other 8-bit systems.
TGEmu 0.3.3. Requires Mac OS X 10.4.
Emulator Enhancer, which adds extra features to TGEmu.
TGEmu/MacOS features reasonably good compatibility with PC Engine HuCards. Sound emulation is supported, and while it isn't perfect, this release improves it substantially. Sprite priority emulation is supported as an option for the games that need it. Also, the emulator can use GZ-compressed ROMs transparently.

Magic Engine, 0.99 beta 4, the last version compatible with Mac OS 8,9, Classic.
Magic Engine is the first TurboGrafx/PC Engine emulator to support CD-based games (in OS 8). It is also relatively fast, and has excellent compatibility. One downside, though, is the interface; everything seems very DOS-like. You can order the Full version of Magic Engine from their home page.

Hu6280/MacOS 1.8.9v4.
Hu6280/MacOS features reasonably good compatibility, although, unlike the PC version, it does not support sound. (Please do not pester the author about this.) It also comes with a freeware Arkanoid-like game to test emulation with. Unfortunately, this emulator has been discontinued.
