September 1998

Virtual Gameboy has been updated to version 1.2! This version supports 1MB ROMs like Wario Land 2, and has vastly improved Super Gameboy support.

Frodo/MacOS, a Commodore 64 emulator, has been updated to version 4.1.6! This corrects a bug which would cause crashes under Mac OS 8.5, and supports the Appearance Manager.

Genesis ROM Info has been updated to version 1.0b6.

A utility for sorting Lynx ROMs, Lynx ROM Info, has just been released.

Sorry about the recent lack of updates. It's midterm season at Berkeley.

If you're having problems with SNES9X 1.0.9a's controls, it is likely that your version of InputSprocket is outdated or installed incorrectly. Either remove it from your System Folder entirely--SNES9X does not require InputSprocket to run--or download this working InputSprocket installation.

System 7.5 users who previously experienced problems with the Appearance Manager should download the new Appearance Manager 1.0.3 extension. The control panel will open properly in this version, and some font conflicts and other oddities have been resolved.

Sorry for the recent outage! The servers hosting emulation.net had a hard drive failure; however, everything should be running smoothly now.

MacMAME has been updated to version 0.34b3! This version brings support for even more ROMs (including a Neo Mr. Do), and fixes a few pesky bugs.

MacMAME also has a new home: MacMAME.org! This site is graciously hosted by BoffoMac. Unfortunately, it seems that their ROM section is currently experiencing difficulties, but this should be an excellent place to get MacMAME information.

Virtual PC has received a small patch, bringing it to version 2.1.1. This update brings Virtual PC to Year-2000 compliance. (Previous versions had no concept of a leap year.)

A new VIC-20 emulator, Power20 1.0, has been released! This emulator is written by the author of Power64 and requires a Power Macintosh (but claims to run at full speed even on a 6100/60).

Richard Bannister is in the process of developing a Macintosh port of the recently-released Retrocade, a multi-arcade emulator supporting around 100 games. It should be available in a few weeks.

The Site of the Week has been updated with another site that Atari 800 fans like myself will enjoy.

Alex and Christian from the House of Coins would like to say one last thanks to all their fans. Unfortunately, their ISP (Communitech) has shut down the House of Coins, apparently for good, along with several other sites related to emulation.

A web-based message board dedicated to emulation on the Macintosh has recently opened! Feel free to visit and post your thoughts.
