MasterGear has been updated to version 1.1! This version supports several new games, including the classic "Rainbow Islands!" Also, GZ-compressed ROMs are supported, and TV mode has been added!
MacV9T9, the TI99 emulator, has already undergone three revisions, to version 0.0a5! This version supports interrupt handling and the compatibility has shot up as a result.
Genesis ROM Info has been updated to version 1.0b2.
A Macintosh programmer who wishes to remain anonymous is requesting information about the Playstation BIOS and hardware design, for use in development of an emulator. Anyone with detailed knowledge of the Playstation BIOS is strongly urged to lend a hand to this project.
MacMAME has been updated to version 0.34b2! This version has much better Neo-Geo emulation, and now handles about twice as many Neo-Geo games as before. ROM Auditing has improved, and many brand new games have been added.

Registered users of WACKE have received an update to version 1.4.3; this version can scale the video to fill an 800x600 or 1024x768 monitor.

Virtual PC has been updated to version 2.1! The updater is free for owners of version 2.0, and adds Voodoo 2 support, user-selectable Ethernet devices, improved video compatibility, support for hot-swapping PowerBook drives, and improved Windows NT application support.
SNES9X has been updated to version 1.0.7a! Multi-freeze support has been added to this version; up to twelve simultaneous freeze states can be saved.
Oric/MacOS has been updated to version 1.3. This version has better keyboard and joystick support.
AudioReplay, a tool for playing back audio recordings from iNES as well as other emulators, has been updated to version 1.2. This version is now compatible with iNES 0.7.1 Plus and Virtual Gameboy 1.1.

Many users have reported various problems with MacMAME's Neo Geo support. Brad Oliver reports that he is working on a fix as fast as he can, so please do not flood his e-mail; his time should be spent coding, not responding to a hundred users reporting the same bug. Instead, read the Neo Geo FAQ that Brad has kindly posted online.
The MAME ROM site Insert Coin has moved, and received a nice facelift in the process!

Sorry for the recent lack of news postings. Due to the start of the school semester this Monday, my time has become rather restricted. Hopefully things will settle down soon, and updates will return to normal.
MacMAME 0.34b1 has been released! This release is especially important because MacMAME is now the first Neo-Geo emulator on the Macintosh! (Note that the Neo-Geo emulator requires a LOT of free memory to start.)
MacMAME 0.34b1 should be released very soon! The DOS port is already released; unfortunately, due to a hard drive crash, Brad Oliver has needed a few extra days to finish up the Mac OS port.
Japanese, German and Dutch translations of SNES9X 1.0.7 have been released.
TO8/MacOS has been updated to version 0.6. Some copy-protected software will run properly in this version.
Boycott/MacOS has been updated to version 0.3.9b. This version allows the colors and keyboard layout to be configured by the user.
Gameboy ROM Info 1.0b1 has been released. This is a small utility (much like SNES ROM Info) which will organize Gameboy ROMs automatically.
MO5/MacOS has been updated to version 2.0.5! This version fixes some bugs and includes separate "freeware" and "shareware" versions; the shareware version is crippled but includes more features.
MESS has been updated to version 0.2b4! This is by far the largest console emulator; this release alone adds support for Apple ][, Atari 800, Atari 5200, Bally Astrocade, Kaypro 2x, PDP-1, Sega Master System/Game Gear and Vectrex. Undoubtedly, though, the most notable feature is the inclusion of a Genesis emulator with full sound support; this is a first for the Mac OS! Unfortunately, it is still quite unoptimized and runs very slowly even on G3s.
Registered users of WACKE received the 1.4.1 update today; it fixes some player/missile bugs.
SNES9X has been updated to version 1.0.7! This release has the option to allow background tasks to run, includes a new Music Box feature, and fixes a few bugs from the previous release.
The source code to the Mac OS version of SNES9X has been released! Curious developers should feel free to download the code and take a look.
Although not a complete emulator per se, one reader noticed that Apple has released an AltiVec emulator which will allow non-AltiVec PowerPC processors to safely run these new opcodes.

WACKE, an Atari 800-series computer emulator, has been updated to version 1.4! Compatibility and speed have both been enhanced since version 1.3.
iNES, a Nintendo Entertainment System emulator, has been updated to version 0.7.1 Plus! This version features TV Mode, support for GZ-compressed ROMs, improved sound generation, and several bug fixes.

A new emulator called FrogCow has been released! This is an emulator for the arcade game Frogger.

SNES9X has been updated to version 1.0.6! This version now supports more ROMs, especially those which worked only when sound was disabled.
