September 2000

After the introduction of the Radeon at the Paris Expo, I've decided to upgrade to a multi-processor G4. If you've also been thinking about upgrading your Mac, I'm selling my current machine, a Blue & White G3/400, on eBay. As I write this, the current bid is still really low, so please feel free to check it out! (picture)

Boycott, a Gameboy emulator, has been updated to version 0.6.3c! This new version adds a spiffy cheat-finder feature.

MacMAME has been updated to version 0.37b7.

Atari 800, an open-source Atari 800 series emulator, has been updated to version 1.04d2. A Mac OS X Carbonized version is also available, for users who are experimenting with the Mac OS X Public Beta.

Many users have written in to tell me about sound problems with the current version of SNES9X. This bug will be fixed in the next update; in the meantime, it can usually be solved by enabling virtual memory. Also, the next version of SNES9X will be able to work natively under Mac OS X Public Beta (I still haven't received my copy yet).

SNES9X has been updated to version 1.3.0! This version includes many new features, such as Mode 7 Smoothing, as well as several compatibility fixes. The most important change to the emulator, however, is that SNES9X has been fully Carbonized, so it is ready to run natively on Mac OS X! Native Mac OS X applications can take advantage of seamless multitasking, and have increased stability. (Mac OS 8.1 and the CarbonLib extension are now required to run SNES9X.)

Virtual Gameboy, a Gameboy Color emulator, has been updated to version 1.7! This version includes several compatibility fixes, and supports the Gameboy real-time clock if you use Freeze and Defrost.

SixtyForce, a Nintendo 64 emulator, has been updated to version 0.5.6b1! This version includes a major overhaul of the CPU core in the emulator, leading to improved emulation speed.

vMac, an open-source Macintosh Plus emulator, has been updated to version 0.1.9b. This version supports full Mac sound emulation.

The PalmOS Emulator has been updated to version 3.0a7.

Power64, a Commodore 64 emulator, has been updated to version 2.8.1.

X68000 Emulator PPC has been updated to version 0.00b4.

MacMAME has been updated to version 0.37b6. This version includes an improved front-end which requires an 800x600 display or bigger to work properly.

MacMESS has been updated to version 0.37b6.

Atari 800, an open-source Atari 800 series emulator, has been updated to version 1.04d1! This version adds sound support, and there is also a new Mac OS X native version available.

Boycott/MacOS, a Gameboy emulator, has been updated to version 0.6.3b. This version fixes a bug which caused the sound to play poorly on many systems.

GBMac, another Gameboy emulator, has been updated to version 1.2.6b4. This version now supports InputSprocket.

The complete emulator table at the bottom of the page was updated to include some recent additions to the emulation.net library.
