I have updated large chunks of emulation.net in order to look good on as many browsers as possible. Specifically, the fonts used on the page looked gigantic under Internet Explorer 5.0, as well as most Windows browsers. This change will fix the gigantic font problem under modern browsers, but will cause the fonts to look a little smaller under Netscape or older versions of Internet Explorer. (I am aware that some versions of Netscape have problems with the CSS on the site; I will look into fixing this in the near future.)

Many readers have written to me and confirmed that Virtual Game Station does, indeed, work with CDs and Macintoshes from any region! This makes Virtual Game Station a very attractive alternative to a real Playstation; being able to play foreign games is definitely a useful feature, considering the number of excellent games which never reach American shores.

SixtyForce, a Nintendo 64 emulator, has been updated to version 0.5.5! This version runs several more commercial cartridges and is slightly faster.

Generator/MacOS, a Genesis emulator, has been updated to version 0.15a! Several emulation glitches are fixed, and stereo sound is now supported!

MacMAME has been updated to version 0.37b3! This version, as usual, supports many more arcade ROMs. GeoMAME has been updated to version 0.37b3 as well.

A new Sega Master System emulator, SMS+/MacOS, has been released! It seems to have very good compatibility, and boasts full sound support.

Boycott/MacOS, a Gameboy emulator, has been updated to version 0.63! This version adds some preliminary Gameboy Color support and several bug fixes, but does not yet handle sound.

Handy/MacOS, an Atari Lynx emulator, has been updated to version 0.7.2! This version has much improved compatibility and reduced memory requirements, but apparently is a little bit slower than previous versions.

A new Gameboy emulator, PlayBoy, has been released! Although it can only run a handful of games correctly, and currently has no sound support, it is a very promising start.

SIDPLAY, a Commodore 64 soundtrack player, has been updated to version 2.5. This version cleans up the sound output and improves the interface of the application.

MacMESS has been updated to version 0.37b2.

One reader reported that Sega is using emulation to drive a "classic video game rental service" on its Japanese Dreamcast networks. For a small fee, users can download Genesis or PC Engine ROM data and run on their Dreamcast it for a 24-hour period.
