ARAnyM, an Atari ST/TT/Falcon emulator, version 0.9.5 beta is now available. The MMU version is much faster now and several little bugs have been fixed. [news contributed by Lawrence Ewing]

Einstein, the Apple Newton emulator, has become Open Einstein. It has been open-sourced using the GNU GPL v.2. Several features have also been updated and it is now at Platform 2007.7. [news contributed by Lawrence Ewing]

zxsp, a ZX Spectrum emulator, version 0.7.1 for OS X 10.3.9+ has been released. This update adds the following features: Kempston mouse interface emulation, ability to save flashing and high-res screenshots as .gifs, record movies as animated .gifs and improved file handling. Virtual ][, an Apple II emulator, version 5.8 has been released. [news contributed by Lawrence Ewing]

Sweet16, an Apple IIgs emulator, version 2.0 Public Beta 1 has been released. Improvements include OpenGL-accelerated graphics, better color fidelity, ability to resize the video window to any size and improved file handling. [news contributed by Lawrence Ewing]

zxsp, a Sinclair ZX Spectrum emulator, has been updated to version 0.7.0. This update adds the following features: support for ZX80 and ZX81, improved tape loading, improved USB joystick support, support for six channel sound (presumably Dolby surround 5.1), improved localization and numerous minor bug fixes. Hercules, an IBM System/370, ESA/390 and z/Architecture emulator, version 3.05 has been released. It is a Universal Binary. This update has many fixes and feature additions. [news contributed by Lawrence Ewing]

MagicEngine, a PC-Engine/TurboGrafx-16 emulator, version 1.0.0 PR 10.2 has been released. It is a Universal Binary. This release is a native Mac OS X application, with excellent integration with Mac OS X, full CD-ROM control like its Classic predecessor, improved video and a few other minor adjustments. Nestopia, a cycle-accurate Nintendo Entertainment System emulator, has been updated to version 1.3.7. This update also fixes a few bugs specific to this emulator and it adds support for several NES peripherals. [news contributed by Lawrence Ewing]

Rainbow, an Atari 400, 800, 800XL, 130XE and 5200 emulator, has been updated to version 1.5.6. [news contributed by Lawrence Ewing]

KiGB, a Game Boy/Game Boy Color emulator, has been updated to version 2.0.4. This version adds a choice of different palettes for classic Gameboy emulation. [news contributed by Lawrence Ewing]

MO5, a Thomson MO5 emulator, version 2.6.2 has been released. [news contributed by Lawrence Ewing]

Richard Bannister has updated his Macintosh Emulator Port Shell, which is common to all his current ported and home-grown emulators. This update does the following:

  • Fixes a nasty crash that could occur when using high requirement blitters (HQ4x/etc) on slower multiprocessor machines.
  • Adds a hidden preferences option to disable the information placards ("Emulator Reset", etc.). To change this, open the preferences plist file in a text editor.
  • Adds proper code interface for getting the mouse position on display.
  • Resolves assertion failure, ce_file.c, line 379, when saving a saved state with the same name as an existing file.

These fixes appear in all of Richard Bannister's June 10, 2007 releases, in addition to emulator-specific changes. [news contributed by Lawrence Ewing]

BSNES, a cycle-accurate Super Nintendo emulator, version 0.1.8 has been released. This will probably be the last version of *BSNES* to be compatible with PowerPC Macs. [news contributed by Lawrence Ewing]

AppleIIGo, an Apple II emulator, version 1.0.1 has been added to emulation.net. Interestingly, this emulator has been provided as a Dashboard widget, meaning it's always available with just a click of a button. As a Dashboard widget, it requires Mac OS X 10.4. [news contributed by Lawrence Ewing]

Mupen64, a Nintendo 64 emulator, has been updated to version 0.5.1-rev2. Fullscreen now works, the Save folder path bug is resolved and Mac OS X 10.2/10.3 support is deprecated. [news contributed by Lawrence Ewing]

BeebEm for Mac, an Acorn BBC Micro emulator, version 3.2 has been released. This update adds ARM Second Processor support. [news contributed by Lawrence Ewing]

ZX Spectrum Widget, a ZX Spectrum emulator, version 3.0 has been added to emulation.net. This emulator has also been provided as a Dashboard widget, meaning it's always available with a click of a button. As a Dashboard widget, it requires Mac OS X 10.4. [news contributed by Lawrence Ewing]





MacMAME, the Mac Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator, version 0.103u2, is available. This release matches Win32 MAME 0.103u2. [news contributed by Lawrence Ewing]

Fuse, a Sinclair ZX Spectrum emulator, version 0.8.0.1 is available. This is a bug fix of the recently released version 0.8.0 which improved graphics, tape loading, joystick handling and emulated peripheral support. It is also now a Universal Binary. [news contributed by Lawrence Ewing]

openMSX, a MSX emulator has been updated to version 0.6.2. This update includes video recording, more realistic PSG and SCC sound and other improvements and bug fixes. [news contributed by Lawrence Ewing]

Hatari, an Atari ST emulator, has been updated to 0.95. This release provides basic Atari TT and Falcon support! These new features are experimental and lacking in a few areas, such as Falcon DSP implementation. However, a few games and demos work. [news contributed by Lawrence Ewing]

MAME OS X, a native port of the Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator, version 0.114 has been added to emulation.net. This application takes advantage of the latest Mac OS X technologies, such as Core Video and Core Image, which allows it to do some really interesting effects. It is a Universal Binary. LisaEm, an Apple Lisa emulator, version 0.9.9-Preview has finally been released. An amazing amount of work has gone into this project in the nearly ten years that it has been in development. Many apologies to those who still come here (if anyone). I am in med school and really do not have the time that this site requires. Still, no new Mini vMac updates have come out for a while. I will try and update other sections as well when I can. Soon, we will be opening a new virtual machines section devoted to the running of Windows and other systems on the new Intel machines.
